It's the first thing your guests see when they arrive and honestly, it sets the tone for everything that follows. This season, I’m leaning into a look that feels festive but effortless, timeless but still cozy. If you’re hosting or simply want your home to feel a little more inviting, here’s how I approach styling an entryway for the holidays. Start with the Feeling You Want to Create When someone walks through the door, I want them to instantly feel relaxed — like they’ve stepped into a calm, cozy retreat. This time of year, I love working with soft, layered textures: a linen table runner, a wool throw tucked into a basket, or fresh greenery draped over a mirror. My holiday palette leans warm and organic with creamy whites, deep greens, natural wood, and a hint of brass for that soft, seasonal sparkle. And scent? I love diffusing a blend of cedarwood, clove, and orange. It's grounding, festive, and timeless without feeling too sweet. Layer Your Decor I always start with a base of natural greenery. A simple garland over a mirror or console instantly brings life into the space. From there, I layer in candlesticks, a seasonal art print, and maybe a bowl of ornaments for a subtle touch of cheer. I usually keep everyday pieces like trays or mirrors in place and just introduce richer, more tactile elements for the season.  Natural elements are key: fresh pine, eucalyptus, olive branches, or even dried citrus slices. They bring life and texture without feeling overdone. Make It Functional, but Beautiful Functionality comes first. A console or slim bench grounds the space, hooks keep things tidy, and woven baskets hide the inevitable holiday clutter. A table lamp adds soft, ambient lighting and gives the console height and balance. I like to use one statement piece + one functional element + one natural touch. For example, a round mirror (statement), a console (functional), and a vase of winter greenery (natural). Holiday Touches Without the Overwhelm You don’t have to decorate every inch for your entryway to feel festive. Choose a few meaningful details instead of filling every corner. A beautiful wreath, a bowl of ornaments, and a few twinkly lights can make just as much impact as a full display.  To keep everything cohesive, I stay within the home’s existing color palette. If your home leans neutral, add soft metallics and greenery. If you have more color, stick to natural textures so things don’t compete. This keeps the holiday decor feeling elevated and integrated — not cluttered or disconnected. Lighting & Ambience Lighting can completely shift the feel of an entryway. I love layering a table lamp with candlelight or weaving warm twinkle lights through greenery. It instantly makes the space feel alive and inviting. If there's one space we get excited about designing again and again, it's the kitchen. It's the heart of the home, and when done right, it's equal parts beautiful and functional. Over time, we've picked up a few tried-and-true design tips that we always come back to. If you're planning your dream kitchen (or just love a good refresh), here's what we always  include and a few things we happily skip. Mix Your Finishes We’re big fans of mixing painted cabinetry with natural wood stains. It’s an easy way to add warmth and depth without going overboard. A stained island paired with soft, painted perimeter cabinets? Yes, please! We also love to mix metals in hardware and plumbing for an added layer of interest, and often use a different stone on the island than on the surrounding countertops to create depth and dimension. These combinations bring balance and character to the space, something we prefer over a one-tone kitchen that can feel flat or too safe. A Home for Everything There's something so polished about panel-ready appliances. They blend right into the cabinetry for a clean, custom look that instantly elevates the space. And we always pair them with smart storage— hidden trash, pull-out spice racks, and appliance garages to name a few. We skip cluttered countertops and those "where do I put this?" moments by planning ahead. When every item has a home, the space feels calm, clutter-free, and effortles Make the Range a Moment If we can, we love to create a focal point around the range. Whether it's a beautiful slab backsplash, a custom plaster hood, or handcrafted tile, this is the perfect spot to lean into some drama. It draws the eye in and becomes the heart of the kitchen. Say Yes to Stone We're big fans of natural stone countertops. Natural stone remains timeless, durable and brings unique character to every kitchen. Quartzite is our go-to when clients want the beauty of marble but need something with less maintenance for everyday use. Mind Your Space We always recommend leaving at least 42 inches between the island and the surrounding cabinets or appliances. It sounds simple, but it makes the kitchen feel open, breathable, and easy to navigate. Narrow walkways not only feel cramped, they can make cooking feel stressful, so when possible, we design for ample space every time. Don't forget to layer in both task and ambient lighting. It's one of those subtle details that makes a big difference. Spring is one of my favorite seasons —longer days, warmer weather, and the perfect excuse to give your home a fresh start. This season is all about new beginnings, and making a few thoughtful updates can breathe life into your spaces while embracing the lighter, brighter energy of the season. Let’s dive into some simple yet effective ways to transition your home for spring. Start with a Good Declutter We all have those spots that could use a little love. (Yes, the overstuffed pantry and that closet you’ve been pretending doesn’t exist!) Tackle one room or area at a time to keep it manageable—and donate what you don’t need. It feels good to let go of the clutter, and it makes room for the things you truly love. Bringing Spring Blooms Indoors Nothing says spring like fresh flowers! While I love a good faux stem arrangement during winter, spring is the perfect time to transition to real blooms. Peonies are my go-to this season— their lush, layered petals and subtle fragrance instantly brighten up any room. Add them to your dining table, nightstand, or kitchen counter for a little pop of spring. Lighten Up Your Bedding Depending on where you live, you might start feeling ready to ditch those extra layers on your bed. Here in California, spring is the perfect time to transition to lighter bedding. Consider swapping out darker pillows for ones in softer, lighter tones that reflect spring's gentle palette. It’s a small change, but it makes your bedroom feel ready for sunnier days. Transition at the Right Time So, when is the best time to make these updates? For me, it’s right after Valentine’s Day. As I pack away the Valentine’s decor, I begin swapping out the darker hues around my home for lighter, more cheerful tones. It’s a slow, natural transition that feels just right—no need to rush! As you begin your own spring transition, remember that small, intentional changes can have the most meaningful impact. Every home transformation starts with a vision and a journey to make it a reality. We’re excited to take you on a tour of our recent full home renovation project in Palos Verdes. We’ll highlight key areas of the home, walk you through our processes, and showcase the stunning outcomes. From reimagining spaces through interior design to creating stylish and practical updates, here are some tips to help you turn your ideas into beautifully crafted spaces that truly reflect your style and needs. Revamping the Primary Bath Transforming your primary bath into a luxurious retreat starts with rethinking the layout. In our recent project, we completely overhauled the space. We started with the old carpet—yes, carpet in a bathroom—and we relocated the shower. The new design features additional storage by the tub and a fresh closet entrance integrated into the space. Sleek zellige tiles now adorn the shower walls, paired with Arto  flooring and Cal faucet  in unlacquered brass for the plumbing. The cozy Victoria & Albert  tub adds a luxurious feel, and the space is finished off with Simply White and Edgecomb Gray paint, Ashley Norton  door hardware, custom recessed mirrors, and Mullan  lighting. The result is a bathroom interior that beautifully blends elegance and functionality. Preserving Vintage Charm This bathroom's charm was undeniable with its classic traditional elements, so we focused on preserving it while subtly updating the space. We removed outdated wallpaper and gave the existing millwork a lovely fresh taupe paint job. Roman clay was applied above the wainscoting for a contemporary feel. We retained classic elements like the claw foot tub, floor tile, and exposed plumbing vintage toilet. We introduced a new marble vanity, faucet, mirror, and lighting to seamlessly blend with these timeless elements, resulting in a small bathroom remodel that beautifully merges classic charm with modern touch. Charming Reading Nook This space was calling out for a built-in solution, and we answered with a charming reading nook. We transformed an extra-large blank spot in the hallway into a cozy twin-sized bed nook with ample storage underneath and shelves on each side. Home styling can turn even the most unused spaces into functional gems. Beautifully framed by art lights, it adds a touch of warmth and an inviting glow that highlights the area. Perfectly placed between my client’s two daughters' bedrooms, it now serves as a cozy retreat and welcoming hangout spot. Every home has its own story waiting to be told through thoughtful design and creative updates. Enhance your shelves with elegant vases, a touch of greenery, and curated art pieces. Beyond aesthetics, they also serve as a handy spot for everyday essentials like glasses and plates, marrying function with flair. Lastly, cabinetry with a natural stain is gaining momentum in design circles. Incorporating materials like white oak or walnut brings a cozy feel to the kitchen. And the best part? A full redo isn't necessary. Simply accenting specific areas, like the island, and complementing it with painted cabinets can artfully blend warmth with a light, airy touch. Vanity Tips for a Tidy Space A clutter-free countertop can significantly enhance your bathroom's look and feel. Incorporating outlets inside vanity drawers is a smart move I often recommend. This setup provides a convenient spot to plug in hair tools, toothbrushes, shavers, and more, ensuring your counters remain clear and organized. For additional storage, consider adding a cabinet tower either between the sinks or matching them on each side. This approach not only maximizes storage space but also adds a symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing element to your bathroom's design. Mixing & Balancing Metals Mixing finishes can add a layer of sophistication to your bathroom. For instance, a brass faucet paired with oil-rubbed bronze mirror and hardware creates a striking contrast, a technique often seen in my favorite interior design styles. When mixing metals, limit yourself to two different finishes per bathroom to maintain a cohesive look. Currently, we're all about the charm of unlacquered brass or champagne bronze finishes, as well as the classic look of polished nickel, elements that can elevate both master and guest bathroom interior designs. Mixing metals can be a delicate balance. The key is to choose one dominant metal and use the second as an accent. This approach creates a harmonious yet dynamic aesthetic. Remember, consistency in finish across different elements can tie the room together, even when you're playing with two different metals.
